Philippine Recipies Made Easy This was the first cookbook of Filipino recipes that I was able to follow clearly ... it contains all the recipes I grew up begging my mother to make for me. |
The Philippine Cookbook The recipes are well-organized and easy to follow. As a self-proclaimed connosieur of Filipino foods, I highly recommend this book if you're searching for an authentic taste of the Philippines. |

Filipino Cuisine: Recipies from the Islands As a first generation Filipino, I have collected several cookbooks on Filipino cuisine and this by far is the best, in the format, recipes and background info on origination and regional histories. Very thorough, informative. I highly recommend it. |
Enjoy this blend of cuisines with its 19 cooking methods, such as stir-frying, deep-frying, grilling on skewers, sautéing in coconut milk, marinating in vinegar and spices, broiling over live charcoal, wrapping in banana leaves, and steaming. Fine Filipino Food features 205 recipes, a glossary of ingredients, a guide to ingredient substitutions, and an extensive resource guide, which allow all home cooks to perfectly recreate these tantalizing dishes. |
|
Filipino Cooking for the Common Family Filipino Cooking for the Common Family is a collection of over 100 authentic Filipino recipes that can be prepared with ease. These dishes are simple enough for the typical nightly dinner, but sophisticated enough to serve to invited
guests. |
Not My Bowl of Rice I bought this book mostly for the recipes, and ended up loving the story as well. It was hard to put down! I thoroughly enjoyed not only the lighthearted story, but also the descriptions of Philippine culture and Philippine history and traditions. |

It's a book of family, love and memories. Each recipe is written from the heart - and from the experiences of growing up in the Philippines during a time of war... Banana Leaves features recipes of different kinds of dishes such as pancit (noodles), lumpia (spring rolls), kakanin (Filipino snacks), and more. |

Basic Tagalog for Foreigners and Non-Tagalogs This book provides a nice working vocabulary, pronunciation guide, and basic grammar. This is THE book to have to start learning Tagalog. |
Beginning Tagalog This is perhaps the most In-depth work on the Tagalog language that I am aware of. This is a college textbook with lots of cultural notes. |

Concise English-Tagalog Dictionary Mr. Panganiban is (was?) a respected Philippine linguist. So I am a bit disappointed that this dictionary is only one-way. But the content is useful. |
Tagalog-English, English-Tagalog (Philipino) Standard Dictionary This is THE most comprehensive two-way Tagalog & English dictionary I've seen! Not only does provide the equivalent of a word in one language, but it also gives the origin; whether it's from Chinese, Spanish, English, etc. |
|
Pilipino-English English-Pilipino Phrasebook and Dictionary Good , easy book for beginning tagalog speakers and readers.it helped me a lot.. |
Talk Now! Tagalog - CD Nice interactive cd for beginning Tagalog. Learn basics such as numbers, colors, directions as well as some simple dialogs. The sound is quite clear and allows you to hear the words pronounced alternately by a male and a female voice. There are also multiple choice quizes that test what you have learned. There is a text that can be printed as well to assist in the learning of Tagalog. |

Tagalog Dictionary Excellent. A basic Tagalog/English dictionary. I used it when I was learning Tagalog among the Philippino people in the Bay Area. |
Beginning Tagalog: A Course for Speakers of English (Book and Cassette ed.) |
|
Ilocano: Ilocano-English/English-Ilocano Dictionary and Phrasebook Seeing that there aren't many resources for learning non-Tagalog languages in the Philippines, this book makes up for that. The beginning of the book deals mainly with grammar and it also includes a short history of the language. And the rest is a dictionary. As Carl Rubino stated to me, it's part of a 500-page thesis... And I must add, it's very well done. |
Ilocano Dictionary and Grammer: Ilocano-English, English-Ilocano This is the best Ilocano dictionary out there. The author's love and dedication to the Ilocano language is an accurate reflection of the hardwork over that years that he has put into this impressive and high-quality dictionary. Not many dictionaries dealing with Philippine languages are as detailed as this one. And not many go great lengths as to include a meaty grammatical sketch, history, and explanation of pronunciation. However, this one does. And very well, I may add. |

Music of the Philippines: Fiesta Filipina If you enjoy Fiesta Filipina's performances of traditional Philippine folk music and dances, this CD is a must-have. Among the tracks are Si Pilemon, Kaykayapo, Malong-taghing baila, Binuyogan, Sa Kabukiran, Dinuy-ya, Panderettas, Ka-singkil, Sampaguita, Jota castanetas, Tahing baila... |
Philippine Treasures This is music that simply must be heard, and once heard, cherished and listened to again and again. The warmth and sentimentality of it softly beckons the listener. While it is culturally and historically important as the 19th and early 20th century roots of contemporary Filipino music, it is the emotion and the colors of the times from which the music sprang that gives us story and lesson about what was and is Filipino. |

Traditional Music from the Philippines This album presents an impeccable recording and beautiful instrumentation and some very pleasant vocals. Like the country itself, the music represents a mix of the hispanic, asian and malayo-polynesian sensibilities. For those who have a
deeper interest in Philippine culture, this is a must-get. |
